NY Mayor Challenges Giuliani Assault Claim as ‘Pat on Back’

[ad_1]

New York Mayor Eric Adams called on Staten Island’s DA and the city’s police commissioner to review former Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s claim that he was assaulted in a borough ShopRite over the weekend as a possible false report, Politico reports. Surveillance video shows the ShopRite employee tapping Giuliani on the back before passing him, when he allegedly told Giuliani: “You’re one of the people that’s gonna kill women,” referring to the recent Supreme Court ruling on abortion.

Giuliani described the tap as feeling like “a shot on my back,” but Adams said, “someone needs to remind former Mayor Giuliani that falsely reporting a crime is a crime. When you look at the video, the guy basically walked by and patted him on the back.”
