SA’s May budget deficit at R17.13bn

South Africa recorded a budget deficit of R17.13 billion in May, compared to a shortfall of R5.44 billion in the same month a year earlier, National Treasury data showed on Thursday.

The tables below show revenue and expenditure for the second month of the 2022/23 fiscal year (April to March), compared with the previous fiscal year.

These are also expressed as a percentage of the 2022/23 budget estimate and preliminary outcome for 2021/22.
